Happy Teej!
Teej is the Hindi celebration of the female-- and what an empowering, vibrant and important celebration it is.
Women in Nepal, and in some parts of India, gather on multiple occasions throughout monsoon season to celebrate all the wonders, joys and challenges of being female. And this Teej is the biggest and brightest and last celebration that commemorates all they overcame this season. So we dressed in saree, fasted, prayed, and danced the whole day long.
The Hindi women dedicate this day to Goddess Parvarti and Lord Shiva as an offering in gratitude of their choosing love above all. And in doing so, most women fast for the longevity of their husbands and families and friends, or in hope to find all of those one day. But most of all, they fast in celebration and gratitude of each other.
Happy Teej to all of the women in my life-- here's to you and here's to us. May we all live our lives are vibrantly as these Hindu women.
